Newcastle 2008
BASE conference: Northumbria University, Newcastle - 10/11 September 2008
This year's BASE conference took place in Newcastle on 10-11 September. The two day event was a resounding success and attended by over 300 delegates from across the UK. Delegates heard keynote speeches from Stephen Timms MP, Minister for Employment and Welfare Reform, Mark Harper MP, Shadow Minister for Disabled People and Ann Watt, Deputy Director of the Social Exclusion Unit. 28 workshops looked at innovative practice across a range of topical issues. BASE would like to thank Northumbria University and Newcastle City Council for their support and sponsorship.
Our interim evaluation shows that 95% of delegates rated the conference content as good or excellent. Almost 98% felt the administration was good or excellent and 92% thought it offered good or excellent value for money. A full evaluation will be available shortly.
You can view the conference brochure and the workshop programme. We welcome any evaluation comments to help us improve the planning of future events.
Gareth McCone from Sunderland was awarded the David Grainger Award in recognition of his outstanding work contribution. We extend our congratulations to him.
We have produced a gallery of photographs from the conference and this is available from the links below:
